Now, available on Amazon and Google Play , the long-awaited update of the Andronome metronomes! The plain and simple Andronome has for quite some time been the musicians favorite metronome, thanks to the great design. Now, on the latest Android Kit-Kat versions, this is greater than ever - the BPM number and the blink literary takes over the whole screen. And no extra charge, the standard Andronome is still completely free (gratis and without ads)! Also the Andronome+ version ($0.99) benefits from the makeover. With direct access buttons for each function, it is now quicker than ever to adjust the presets or enable/disable sound, blink and vibration. The page indicator at the bottom hints at the next (and previous) song, while the "preset lock" prevents accidental changes in the heat of the gig. Professional, familiar and greater than ever. At Skrivarna Software, these days most resources and attention goes to the Fakebook and Rude family of apps. So maybe it's time to give some kudos to the Andronome metronomes - small, simple, yet incredible useful: Does one thing well   This is the app I was looking for. It's stable, easy to set tempo, and doesn't require any special permissions. Great job, developer! Smart, clean, functional and AD-Free Simple and beautiful UI. Just shows the tempo. Touch to start. Tap or swipe to change tempo. Long press to stop. I don't see a metronome getting any better than this.

To my surprise both the Fakebook and the Andronome+ apps have made it to the best seller lists in Amazon Appstore . At the time of this writing Fakebook is on number 6 and Andronome+ on number 15 in their categories. In  Google Play  the competition is tougher, but Fakebook still makes the top 100 music apps list most of the time. What can I say? Thanks! Speaking of different app stores, a BlackBerry Playbook user noted that I haven't really advertised that Fakebook is available on the BlackBerry App World . Well, it is. Actually, VL-Tone and the Andronome Metronomes are also available, but due to some BlackBerry trademark policy the metronomes have been renamed Enginome and Enginome+ on App World. A few updates have been published on the Android Market since my last post here. No major changes, but a few nice optional ways to use the app and some important improvements "under the hood". The version is now 0.9.5: Menu buttons for enabling/disabling sound and blink. Made sure tempo setting is stored between invocations. Form-and-fit for larger screens improved. Usage screen only shown once (at first start-up) and on request. Reduced memory allocations (less footprint and better performance). Some internal restructuring to allow for future enhancements (looking forward to version 1.0.0...).

There are often several ways to get at the most important functions of the Andronome metronome. Most users will prefer to use the touch screen, like this: Tap the screen once to start the metronome. Long press (touch and hold) the screen to stop. Adjust the tempo by swiping the finger over the screen. Fling or swipe up to increase the BPM, down to decrease it. The tempo change is proportional to the velocity of the swipe. Tap the tempo on the screen, Andronome will adjust to the tapped tempo. You may also use the menu to start, stop and set tempo. Or the hardware buttons. And why not try the remote control on your headset? You may also use the menu to button and press play/stop. Tempo is adjusted via a slider control and the short usage welcome screen can be shown. If you have a headset with media control the play/pause button will work as expected.
